Permanent Aadhar Seva Kendra to be set up soon in Darjeeling and Kalimpong: Raju Bista

Siliguri, 30th June: A permanent Aadhar Seva Kendra in Darjeeling and Kalimpong hills is likely to be set up by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Darjeeling MP Raju Bista extended his gratitude to Dr Subash Garg for taking cognition of his request.

It is to recall, MP Raju Bista had written to the Chief Executive Officer of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Dr Subash Garg requesting him to establish Aadhar Seva Kendra in Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Siliguri region. Following this, an Aadhar Seva Kendra in Siliguri, with the capacity to cater to over 500 individuals in a day, was made functional on the 26th of October 2020.

Later, the MP reached out to Dr Garg once again to notify regarding the problems being faced by the tea garden and Cinchona garden workers in seeding their Aadhar Data with the Employees Provident Fund account. MP Bista, through a press release, maintained that he has received a letter from the CEO of UIDAI stating that work for establishing an Aadhar Seva Kendra is near completion at Bagdhara Primtam Road, Opposite Sai Mandir, Kalimpong and that the Aadhar Centre in Kalimpong is expected to start functioning within one month.

Furthermore, the identification of the location for the Darjeeling Aadhar Seva Kendra is currently underway and the same is also expected to start by the end of September 2021.

Dr Subash Garg also added that in order to facilitate a smooth process for the tea garden and Cinchona garden workers, UIDAI has included a certificate issued by EPFO authorities in the ‘valid list of documents’ allowed for Aadhar enrolment. This will be of great help to the workers who are facing enrolment problems due to mismatch in EPF and Aadhar data, to correct their documents.

MP Bista urged all Tea Garden and Cinchona Garden Unions and concerned citizens to make use of the new concession allowed by UIDAI and help the workers to correct the existing discrepancies in their documents so that they can benefit from EPF facilities without any further delay.
