Siliguri, 09th June: A partnership dispute over a new bus counter near the SDO building in Siliguri escalated into violence on Sunday, resulting in one person being injured. The situation prompted the intervention of police from the Pradhan Nagar Police Station, but a scuffle ensued, leading to the arrest of two individuals.
The arrested individuals, identified as Vijendra Kapoor alias Masoom and his brother Surendra Kapoor, were involved in a conflict with Pradeep Sarkar. The dispute arose after a breakdown in a partnership between Sarkar and Vijendra Kapoor concerning the bus counter. Tensions flared during the counter’s inauguration, turning into a violent altercation.
Pradeep Sarkar was seriously injured in the scuffle and was admitted to Siliguri District Hospital. Sarkar stated that while he was sitting for a puja, he was attacked by Vijendra Kapoor, his brother, and their associates. He alleges an attempt on his life and claims that the police, who arrived to settle the matter, were also mistreated.
Both accused individuals were presented in the Siliguri court on Monday. Pradhan Nagar Police Station IC Basudeb Sarkar confirmed that immediate action was taken due to the seriousness of the incident. A written complaint was filed by Pradeep Sarkar’s family against four individuals, including Vijendra Kapoor. Additionally, the police filed a counter-complaint against the Kapoor brothers and their associates.
The family of the injured Pradeep Sarkar has called for strict action from the authorities. The police are currently investigating the matter.
