Kharibari, 21st February: Panitanki Outpost police under Kharibari Police Station arrested four persons who had allegedly gathered in the New Market area of Panitanki with plans to carry out a robbery late at night.
Police conducted a raid in the area after receiving information about suspicious movement. Sensing police presence, the accused attempted to flee, but four of them were apprehended on the spot.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Kamiruddin, Vishal Rajbanshi, Ramesh Rajbanshi and Prasenjit Das. During the search, police recovered iron crowbars, scissors, sickles and other sharp weapons from their possession.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly admitted that they had assembled to execute a robbery. The four were produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Saturday. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
