Organizations demand a name change after two lions brought in Siliguri’s Bengal Safari Park, submits memorandum

Siliguri, 13th February: Organizations including the Hindu Jagaran Mancha and Hindu Sabhya Samaj expressed their displeasure through a protest in front of the Bengal Safari Park Management Office and submitted a memorandum to the park management demanding a name change after the lions were brought into the park a day ago.

However, the Bengal Safari Park Management stated that the names were not given in the park but were already named in their previous dwellings at Sepahijala Zoological Park of Tripura.

On Tuesday, on behalf of the organizations, a memorandum was submitted to the Bengal Safari Park Management demanding the change of name. It is to be noted that, two lions named Akbar and Sita, have been brought to Bengal Safari Park in Siliguri from Sepahijala Zoological Park of Tripura.

Reported, the Hindu organizations expressed anguish upon learning the names of the lion and lioness brought to Bengal Safari Park. According to the organizations, naming a lioness after mother ‘Sita’ is a matter of disrespect as mother ‘Sita’ is revered. They stated that religious sentiments are being hurt and will not be tolerated.

The organizations lauded the new development regarding the additions to the Bengal Safari Park while stating that the name should be changed. In this regard, several Hindu organizations under the leadership of Hindu Sabhya Samaj expressed their displeasure through a protest in front of the Bengal Safari Park Management Office and submitted a memorandum to the park management demanding a name change.
