Siliguri, 29th October: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) will organise a ‘Mission Sahasi’ trainer-training camp in North Bengal from October 31 to November 2 at the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram in Salbari, Siliguri, to equip female students with self-defence skills and boost their self-confidence. The programme was announced by ABVP members during a press conference held on Thursday.
According to the organisation, female students from 12 organisational districts across North Bengal will participate in the camp. The training will focus on techniques to defend themselves in dangerous situations using everyday items such as scarves, dupattas, pens and hair clips.
After completing the training, the participants will return to their respective districts and teach these self-defence techniques to other students at educational institutions, helping expand the programme’s reach.
ABVP stated that the primary objective of the initiative is to strengthen the self-defence skills and self-confidence of female students amid growing concerns over women’s safety. The camp will be conducted by three trained ABVP members along with two professional instructors.
Those present at the press conference included Pooja Ram, member of the ABVP National Executive Council and the state girls’ in-charge; Aditi Biswas, state joint secretary; and Susmita Adhikari and Sneha Roy, conveners of the Rashtriya Kala Manch.
