Siliguri, 26th June: The Siliguri Metropolitan Police have arrested another accused in connection with the recent armed robbery at a jewellery store on Hill Cart Road. The accused, identified as MD Aashan, is a resident of Darbhanga in Bihar.
The arrest follows the incident on Sunday afternoon, when a gang of 7-8 robbers, including two women, stormed into the store, tied up employees and security guards, and looted gold and diamond jewellery worth crores of rupees at gunpoint. Two members of the gang were caught while attempting to flee.
Based on the interrogation of the two arrested robbers and mobile number traces, police tracked down and arrested MD Aashan in Bihar. He was brought to Siliguri and produced in court on Thursday.
The police continue their efforts to locate and arrest the remaining members of the gang.
