Cooch Behar, 24th March: A tragic incident unfolded in the Nishiganj 1 Gram Panchayat area under Khokobari, Cooch Behar, as a person lost his life while another sustained injuries in a bison attack. The deceased has been identified as Ramni Sarkar (65).
According to reports, locals noticed the presence of two bisons in the Nishiganj area of Mathabhanga Block No. 02 earlier in the morning. Upon receiving the news, forest officials promptly arrived at the scene. Ramni Sarkar, a resident of Nishiganj, was working in the area when one of the bisons unexpectedly attacked him from behind.
Following the attack, Ramni Sarkar was swiftly transported to Nishiganj Primary Health Center for immediate medical attention. However, his condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to his referral to Cooch Behar’s MJN Medical College and Hospital. Despite medical efforts, doctors declared him deceased. Additionally, another individual sustained injuries during the bison attack and is currently receiving treatment at the Mathabhanga Sub-Division Hospital.
