Siliguri, 30th October: In a crackdown on illegal liquor sale, NJP police arrested a man, identified as Shankar Mahato, with a substantial quantity of local and foreign liquor in a raid on a tea shop.
According to reports, police received a tip-off about an illegal liquor operation allegedly being run under the guise of a tea shop in the DS Colony area. Acting on this information, officers from the NJP police station placed the shop under surveillance. On Tuesday, they arrested Mahato, who was found with a large stash of both local and foreign liquor on the premises.
The accused was presented at the Jalpaiguri court on Wednesday. Police have initiated a thorough investigation into the case.
