One arrested in connection with Madhya Shanti Nagar theft

Siliguri, 19th July: A worker at a gold shop has been arrested by the Ashighar Outpost police in connection with a theft in Madhya Shanti Nagar, Siliguri. The accused, Sanjib Sutradhar, is a resident of the Majhabari area.


The theft occurred in a house in Madhya Shanti Nagar on July 7, and a complaint was subsequently lodged at the Ashighar Outpost. Following an investigation, the police arrested Sanju Das, also a resident of Majhabari, on July 10. Das was produced in court and taken on remand.

On Thursday, based on information from secret sources, the police arrested Sanjib Sutradhar from the Majhabari area and recovered 50 grams of melted gold. According to police sources, Sutradhar had been arrested a few days earlier as well. He is alleged to buy stolen gold ornaments from thieves and criminals to sell them elsewhere.


Sutradhar, who was arrested on Friday, has been sent to Jalpaiguri court. The police are investigating whether additional individuals are involved in the incident.
