Nursing staff protest against misconduct at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital

Siliguri, 05th February: Nurses at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital have raised their voices in protest against the alleged misbehavior of an on-duty doctor towards a nursing staff on duty.

The incident occurred on January 27, when a nurse in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department contacted an on-duty doctor regarding a complication with a patient. The nurse documented the patient’s medical records in a call book sent over to the doctor for reference. However, the situation took a turn when the doctor, in response, wrote “idiot” in the call book addressed to the nurse.

The incident sparked outrage among the nursing staff, leading them to take a stand against such behavior. On Wednesday, the nurses approached the hospital superintendent, Sanjay Mallick, demanding to intervene in the matter.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Sanjay Mallick assured the nurses that an investigation would be conducted into the incident.
