Siliguri, 25th March: The unsung of heroes of NJP Police helped a woman, from Uttar Pradesh, who was trapped in a hotel in NJP amid the lockdown.
As per the report, Jyotsna Khurana works at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in East Sikkim. She arrived in Sikkim on March 23 to join for work. However, she was detained at the Sikkim border due to the strict precautionary measures regarding the Coronavirus outbreak and was then sent back to Siliguri. After reaching Siliguri, she took shelter in a hotel adjacent to the NJP area. But as a nation-wide lockdown has been announced for the next 21 days, the woman had no means of transport to neither go to Sikkim nor bear her cost of living and eating in the hotel.
The woman desperately sought help at the NJP Police Station. Upon receiving the news, the NJP police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Anirban Bhattacharya came forward to assist her. He arranged for a hotel and also made arrangements to drop her in Sikkim.
