Siliguri, 31st December: Based on a tip-off, the NJP police, on Monday night, launched operations at Fulbari and rescued 12 cattle. A pick-up van was detained in the incident.
Although the vehicle driver managed to escape the scene, the police successfully got hold of the assistant driver MD Jabbar and arrested him on the charge of cattle smuggling.
Following this, the police launched investigations on Wednesday night and arrested the driver MD Khaleq. He was sent to Jalpaiguri court on Thursday.
