Kolkata, 11th January: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee shortly after arriving in Kolkata on Saturday.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Banerjee said, “While speaking to Prime Minister, I told him that we are against CAA, NPR and NRC. We want CAA and NRC to be withdrawn.” The West Bengal CM called the meeting a “courtesy meet” and added that the PM assured that he would look into the matter as soon as he returns to Delhi.
Modi arrived in Kolkata amid protests by students against CAA and NRC. The PM is in Kolkata to take part in 150th anniversary of Kolkata Port Trust at Netaji Indoor Stadium on Sunday. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit Belur Math. He will participate in the cultural program after meeting the ascetics.
