Pedong, 02nd May: Roshan Lama, a senior leader of the GNLF and former councilor of DGHC who resided in Pedong, Kalimpong, passed away under mysterious circumstances.
According to reports, Lama lost his life in a tragic incident that occurred on the evening of May 01. Lama was traveling with his wife and daughter from Kalimpong to Monsong when they were involved in a minor accident with a two-wheeler at Burmek Deorali. A verbal confrontation ensued, which later escalated into the physical brawl. The occupant of the two-wheeler identified as Tshering Sherpa of 16th Mile, allegedly pushed him off a roadside cliff.
Last night, Lama’s younger brother, Bhusan Lama, filed a written complaint at Lava Police Station at around 11:45 pm, detailing the incident and providing the vehicle details of the deceased, with registration no. WB79A8796. The complaint alleged that the accused fled the scene after pushing Roshan Lama from the cliff. The family of the deceased later rescued him and rushed him to Kalimpong District Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Lava Police Station, Case no: 15/23, Dt: 01/05/2023 U/S 279/337/302 IPC. The police immediately began raids to apprehend the accused, and this morning, they successfully arrested him.
