Siliguri, 18th December: An unsettling incident came to light where the headless body of a youth was recovered from a deep trench in the Fulbari Teesta Canal on Sunday. Significantly, the family members have upheld allegations of murder. The deceased has been identified as Nitesh Roy (29), a resident of the Fakirdheep area of Belakoba.
As per the details gathered, the deceased lived with his wife, Anjali Roy, in the Chaturagachh area under the Fulbari-II Gram Panchayat for a month. However, a few days prior Nitesh indulged in an illicit relationship with one of Anjali’s sisters and eventually engaged in holy matrimony. Following this, they got married a month ago. On the other hand, after working at his shop in Belakoba, Nitesh used would return home to Fulbari at night.
Speaking in this regard, Nitesh’s wife Anjali Roy stated that, on Saturday night, he returned home from Belakoba at around 10 pm and arrived at Anjali’s maternal home to park his vehicle like every other day. However, he did not return home.
Despite searching at various locations, his location was left untraced. Subsequently, on Sunday morning, the headless body of Nitesh Roy was recovered from Fulbari Teesta Canal. Later, the family members of the deceased lodged a formal complaint at the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) police station. The family members demanded a detailed investigation and strict punishment for the culprits. Meanwhile, the police are engaged in a thorough investigation of the entire incident.
