Murder over ‘Dadagiri Tax’: Two prime accused arrested in Siliguri

Siliguri, 22nd December: Two main individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man over a dispute regarding the ‘Dadagiri Tax’ in Rajaholi, NJP. The arrested men, identified as Mohammad Alauddin and Mohammad Saluddin, are accused of being involved in the killing.


The incident dates back to November 1, when Mohammad Zuhuri was murdered by a group of men in Rajaholi after refusing to pay the ‘Dadagiri Tax’. The family of the deceased filed a complaint at NJP police station, accused ten individuals. Following the complaint, the family and locals raised their voices demanding the arrest of the culprits.

In response to the allegations, the police launched an investigation and arrested four individuals initially. On Saturday, the two main accused, Mohammad Alauddin and Mohammad Saluddin, were arrested in Malda’s Kaliachak area.


The arrested suspects were presented in the Jalpaiguri court on Sunday. The police continue to investigate the case.
