Teesta Valley, 23rd June: Raju Bista, the BJP Central Spokesperson and Member of Parliament from Darjeeling, embarked on a tour of Takdah Teesta Valley area, engaging with local residents while promoting the upcoming panchayat polls. The MP received a warm welcome from enthusiastic BJP supporters and workers from allied coalition parties.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Teesta Valley, Bista acknowledged the warm reception he received and expressed his fortune to represent such remarkable individuals. He visited the Durga Mandir, Shiva Mandir, and Teesta Valley Monastery, offering prayers for the strength to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of the people. Bista also met with BJP candidates and those from the alliance, extending his best wishes and assuring them of his full support in their mission to establish freedom, democracy, and corruption-free development in the region. During his visit, Bista paid his respects at the “Jan Jagaran Stambah” in Teesta Valley, a significant place that marked the call for Gorkha Political Unity. He then met prominent citizens, social organizations, associations, and the local community from Takdah and neighbouring areas.
Highlighting the historical importance of Takdah, Bista mentioned its establishment as one of the first Army Cantonments. The renowned Orchid Centre in Takdah attracts researchers worldwide who study orchids and other endemic plant species. He further stated that Takdah, Tinchuley, Sporeng, Rangli, Rangliot, Teesta Valley, Gyel Bhanjyang, Takling, as well as nearby areas like Lopchu, Peshok, Lamahatta, Jinglam, Namring, and Pubong, play a pivotal role in agriculture, floriculture, tea, and tourism in the Darjeeling region. Their substantial contributions to the local economy cannot be overstated, as the growth of Darjeeling is closely intertwined with the progress of Takdah Valley.
Recognizing the region’s natural beauty and clean environment, Bista emphasized the immense potential for the development of homestays, nature-based tourism, and ecotourism in Takdah. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the entire Takdah Valley realizes its full potential for growth and development.
