Motorists remained off the road following VHP’s call for 12-hour Siliguri Bandh

Siliguri, 24th August: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has called for a 12-hour Siliguri Bandh on Thursday in protest against the brutal murder of a schoolgirl in Siliguri. Following this, motorists remained off the road and a drastic drop in vehicular movements could be seen in the city.

Reportedly, since morning, vehicle movement from Siliguri to Darjeeling, Kurseong, and Kalimpong was less as compared to other days. Similarly, vehicles coming from the hills were also comparatively fewer. On Wednesday, several associations of motorists took the decision not to ply the route in protest against the brutal murder of a minor in Siliguri.
