Mortar shell recovered in Fulbari, triggers panic

Fulbari, 17th February: A mortar shell was recovered in Fulbari, causing panic in the area.

The explosive was found on Monday in a car parking lot near the India-Bangladesh border in the Amaidighi area of Fulbari.

According to reports, sand and gravel were brought from Teesta in a dumper to a parking lot in Fulbari. While sifting through the materials, the mortar shell was discovered. The incident was immediately reported to NJP police station.

It is suspected that multiple mortar shells were washed into the Teesta River following last year’s natural disaster in the hills. This shell may have been transported along with the sand and stones brought from the river in Oodlabari. Police have reached the site and are working to recover the mortar shell.
