Siliguri, 31st May: The residents of Siliguri have been strictly advised against the consumption of municipality water till June 2. Following the announcement, the residents have been grappling with a water crisis in the city. In response to the issue, the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department has proactively installed mobile water treatment plants across various locations in Siliguri.

According to reports, the PHE has installed mobile water treatment plants in six different places in Siliguri, including Fulbari and Ektiasal, under the directives of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC). The mobile water treatment plant produces pouches of purified drinking water.

Reportedly, the plant has been operational since Thursday morning in the Dakshin Shanti Nagar area and has produced over 40,000 water pouches as of now. The water pouches will then be dispatched to the different boroughs in Siliguri and eventually reach the public.
