Siliguri, 31st May: Dabgram-Fulbari Assembly Constituency MLA Sikha Chatterjee has criticized Mayor Gautam Deb, accusing him of inaction regarding waste management issues. Chatterjee’s remarks came after visiting the local dumping ground where she protested the ban on dumping garbage from Dabgram I and Dabgram II areas.
Upon receiving complaints about the ban, MLA Chatterjee visited the dumping site to address the issue. After a period of protest, authorities granted permission to resume dumping waste from the said areas. During her visit, Chatterjee took the opportunity to take a jab at Mayor Gautam Deb, likening his role to a ‘peacock sitting idle’ in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).
Chatterjee highlighted that the dumping ground falls within her constituency and expressed frustration over the recurring bans on garbage disposal from Dabgram I and II. She cautioned that if the SMC continues to restrict waste dumping from her constituency, she would reciprocate by prohibiting garbage from the Siliguri constituency from being dumped on the same ground.
