Rajganj, 02nd January: Under the Pathashree project, MLA Khageswar Roy on Friday laid the foundation stone for the construction of four concrete roads in Rajganj block, marking the beginning of long-awaited infrastructure work in the area.
The foundation stones were laid for two concrete roads in the Majhiali Panchayat area, one road in the Kukurjan region, and another road under the Sukhanhi Gram Panchayat. The four roads together will cover a total distance of nearly eight kilometres.
The road construction will be carried out with financial assistance of approximately ₹8 crore from the Panchayat and Rural Development Department of the West Bengal government.
Speaking at the programme, MLA Khageswar Roy said that the long-standing demand of local residents has finally been fulfilled and the work on all four roads has officially begun.
The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by Rajganj Panchayat Samiti chairperson Rupali Dey Sarkar, Rajganj Block Trinamool Congress president Arindam Banerjee, youth president Niladri Bose, Sukhanhi Gram Panchayat pradhan Parimal Roy, Majhiali Gram Panchayat pradhan Sumit Dutta, Farjan Ali, Hemanta Roy, and other local leaders and officials.
