Rajganj, 01st February: A woman from Belakoba, who went missing after attending the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, has safely returned home, bringing relief to her worried family.
Reshmit Meher, a resident of Hatkhola Line, Shikarpur Tea Estate, Belakoba, had been untraceable for the past two days after getting separated from her husband during the religious gathering. Her disappearance had caused great distress to her family, who finally breathed a sigh of relief when she returned on Friday night.
According to reports, Reshmit was taking a bath at the Maha Kumbh on January 29 when she got separated from her husband due to a sudden jostling.
Stranded and alone, she received help from local residents and managed to travel by train to Patna. From there, she boarded another train to New Jalpaiguri, reaching NJP station at 3 p.m. on Friday. She then took the NJP-Haldibari via Belakoba local train, arriving at Belakoba station at 6 p.m., and finally made her way home.
On Saturday, Reshmit expressed gratitude, stating that locals had assisted her throughout the journey. Many kind-hearted individuals on the train also extended their support.
Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy, Rajganj Panchayat Samiti Sabhapati Rupali Dey Sarkar, and Belakoba Outpost OC K.T. Lepcha welcomed Reshmit upon her return. Additionally, BJP District Kisan Morcha President Nakul Das visited her residence to check on her well-being.
