Fulbari, 18th January: Miscreants went on a rampage at shops while attempting theft in the Putimari More area under Fulbari II Gram Panchayat.
According to local sources, the miscreants broke open the tin sheets and shutters of three consecutive shops to gain entry. Inside one of the shops, they ransacked the entire premises, leaving goods scattered and causing damage.
A shop owner said he had closed his shop and returned home the previous night. On opening the shop on Sunday morning, he found all items lying in a disordered condition. Food items and furniture were damaged, although no major theft was reported. He also stated that similar incidents had occurred in the area earlier.
On receiving information, police from the New Jalpaiguri police station reached the spot and launched a search operation to trace the miscreants. Police said an investigation into the incident is underway.
