Miscreants attempt to loot two banks near Siliguri Panitanki More, investigation underway

Siliguri, 18th January: Sensation prevailed after some miscreants attempted to loot two banks near Siliguri Panitanki More, on Sunday night.


As per the report, a group of miscreants broke the lock and shutter of Canara Bank and Sonali Bank. The Siliguri police were informed after the matter came to the notice of the bank authorities on Monday morning.

Upon receiving the news, the IC of Siliguri police station and OC of Panitanki outpost reached the spot shortly after. The miscreants also tried to loot a warehouse situated on the roof of the building.


According to bank sources, the power supply was cut off in many parts of the building. An investigation has been started into the whole incident.

According to the police sources, the miscreants broke into a bank and tried to break the vault. However, they failed to steal any money. The police also recovered a shovel brought by the miscreants.

It is to be noted that a few days ago, an attempt was made to rob an SBI e-corner near Court More. One of the miscreants also attacked the security guard at the e-corner. Siliguri police have not yet arrested anyone in the incident.
