Siliguri, 20th December: A heart-wrenching incident surfaced from Siliguri where the lifeless body of a minor rape victim was found hanging from the noose in the washroom of a welfare home.
As per reports, the minor had been residing in a relative’s residence following the tragic demise of her parents during the pandemic. Later, in August, the minor was subjected to sexual assault and the accused rapist was subsequently arrested. Following this, the minor was placed in a welfare home located in Hakim Para, under court orders. The relatives of the minor would occasionally visit her and talk to her over the phone.
However, in a tragic turn of events, the minor’s deceased body was found hanging from the noose in the washroom of the said home, earlier on Wednesday. The police of the Panitanki Outpost were immediately informed and the deceased body was recovered and sent to the Siliguri District Hospital. Upon being alerted, the minor’s relatives also arrived. Sources claimed that the post-mortem examination of the deceased’s body would be conducted at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).
