Siliguri, 10th January: A minor lost his life after being hit by a dumper truck in the Rajendra Nagar area of Ward No. 01 in Siliguri on Saturday, triggering tension in the locality.
The deceased has been identified as Udit Jha, a student of Standard VI at Deshbandhu Hindi High School. According to local sources, the minor had left home on a bicycle in the afternoon when the dumper hit him.
Following the incident, the injured minor was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Family members were left devastated after receiving the news.
Local residents detained the dumper involved in the incident, following which police reached the spot. Residents expressed anger over the movement of heavy vehicles during daytime hours in the area.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances leading to the accident.
