Siliguri, 15th September: Tension spread in the Ashighar Outpost area of Siliguri following the death of a minor girl. Police have detained her minor boyfriend in connection with the incident.
According to police sources, no one was at the minor girl’s house on Monday morning. When her mother returned home, she found the main gate locked. Despite calling out for a long time, she received no response. With the help of neighbours, she looked inside the house from another side and saw her daughter’s tragic condition.
Family members were left devastated following the incident. On receiving the information, police from Ashighar Outpost promptly reached the spot. During the recovery of the body, a note was also recovered. In the note, the minor held her boyfriend responsible for her death and also apologised to her parents.
The body was subsequently recovered and sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, the family lodged a written complaint at Ashighar Outpost. Based on the complaint, police detained the minor boyfriend.
On Tuesday, the detained minor was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. Ashighar Outpost police are investigating the entire incident.
