Rajganj, 25th March: An unsettling incident unfolded in Ambari-Hati More State Highway in Colony No. 9 area where a minor lost his life after being hit by a pick-up van. Subsequently, an angry mob set the pick-up van on fire. The incident led to a widespread commotion in the area. The deceased has been identified as Pritijit Byapari.
According to reports, on Monday, a pick-up van was heading towards Ambari from Hati More. During this, the vehicle allegedly hit the minor on the roadside in the said area. Consequently, the minor fell on the road; however he succumbed to his injuries. After the incident, the locals chased the vehicle and halted it. The agitated mob vandalized the pick-up van and set it on fire.
Upon receiving the news, a huge police force of Ambari Outpost arrived at the spot. Two policemen suffered injuries while controlling the situation. The angry mob assaulted the pick-up van driver. Consequently, the pick-up van driver sustained injuries. He was later rescued and rushed to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). Meanwhile, an engine from Fulbari fire department arrived at the spot and doused the fire. Currently, the police are probing the entire incident.
