Naxalbari, 16th May: The Naxalbari Gram Panchayat (GP) has submitted a memorandum to the Naxalbari police station, addressing the escalating drug trade in the area. Sources revealed that the increasing drug activity has been accompanied by a rise in theft incidents.
On Thursday afternoon, GP Pradhan Jayanti Kiro, Upa-Pradhan Bishwajit Ghosh, and other panchayat members met with the in-charge of the Naxalbari police station to demand urgent action against the crucial issue.
Reportedly, the drug trade is flourishing in several areas of Naxalbari, including Premnagar, Khalpara, Kotia Jote, Totaram Jote, Kalua Jote, and Khemchi. Drug addicts are frequently involved in thefts across these areas. In this regard, Bishwajit Ghosh highlighted that a demand has been made to the administration, urging immediate action.
