Siliguri, 12th June: Mayor Goutam Deb of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) visited Ward No. 18 to assess the progress of the construction of permanent houses and a health centre. About one year ago, a devastating fire reduced around 30 houses to ashes in the ward. At the time, Mayor Deb had pledged that the SMC would build houses for the affected families. Consequently, construction work began, and today the Mayor personally inspected the site.
Accompanying him were Ward Councilor Sanjay Sharma, Borough No. 03 Chairman Milli Sinha, and SMC officials. Mayor Goutam Deb stated that around Rs 84 lakhs have been allocated for the construction of 30 permanent houses, and the work is nearly complete. Additionally, the construction of the health centre is also nearing completion. It is anticipated that the inauguration of the permanent houses and health centre will take place on August 15.
