Siliguri, 26th February: Mayor Gautam Deb inaugurated 64 modern CCTV cameras in Ward No. 07 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), along with providing an ambulance for the ward. The event was attended by Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Ward 7 Councillor Pintu Ghosh, and other municipal council members.
Mayor Gautam Deb stated that earlier, some CCTV cameras were installed in the ward on councillors’ initiative. This time, the Municipal Corporation formally installed 64 modern CCTV cameras, with the corporation actively overseeing their maintenance.
He further added that CCTV installation is planned gradually across all wards of Siliguri. The initiative aims to strengthen city security and enable the administration to take more effective action in crime prevention.
Local residents welcomed the move, noting that the CCTV cameras will enhance safety in the ward, and the new ambulance service will ensure quick access to emergency medical care.
