Siliguri, 21st October: On Monday, Mayor Gautam Deb convened a meeting at the Siliguri Municipal Corporation to discuss dengue prevention efforts. Health officials from Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts, the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Officer, and municipal councilors arrived during the meeting.
Notably, the dengue outbreak reached epidemic levels in 2022 and affected nearly 2,793 individuals. However, the number of dengue cases has significantly decreased in 2024. The Siliguri Municipal Corporation is actively working to ensure the city remains dengue-free. The recent meeting focused on strategies to prevent the spread of the disease.
Following the meeting, the mayor stated that the current number of dengue cases is under control. He emphasized the importance of monitoring the situation closely in the coming months to prevent any increase in cases. Significantly, Siliguri’s Ward No. 05 and Ward No. 27 have been majorly prone to higher incidences of dengue.
