Siliguri, 31st May: On Friday, Mayor Gautam Deb held a press conference at the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) regarding the necessary arrangements made in response to the drinking water crisis in Siliguri.
Notably, the SMC has issued a temporary ban on consuming tap water supplied within the Municipal Corporation area until June 2. The announcement sparked widespread tension throughout the wards. However, the Municipal Corporation has swiftly initiated measures to mitigate the crisis. Water tankers and pouches are being deployed across the city to ensure residents have access to safe drinking water.
Additionally, on Friday morning, Mayor Gautam Deb inspected various wards to oversee the distribution of drinking water. Furthermore, Mayor Deb assured the public during the press conference that by Friday afternoon, 75 drinking water tanks had been dispatched in 47 wards and 2-3 lakh water pouches would be distributed to residents by night.
