Siliguri, 03rd November: In a recent theft case at the Shiv Mandir area in Siliguri, the Matigara police have taken a thief into custody under a warrant. The accused, identified as Jaigaon resident Jabdul Hussain (29), is currently imprisoned in Alipurduar jail.
Reportedly in July, a family in the Chaitanyapur area of the Shiv Mandir of Siliguri had held a homecoming ceremony and organized a Kali Puja during the event. Upon returning after immersing the idol, they discovered that their house had been robbed. Later, they found that 90 grams of gold jewelry had been stolen from the residence. Following this, a written complaint was filed at the Matigara police station on July 18.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Matigara police initiated an investigation. During their inquiries, they learned that Jabdul Hussain was already in jail for another theft case in Jaigaon. Subsequently, on October 29, the police brought him to Siliguri under a production warrant authorized by the court for a five-day remand.
Following interrogation, police recovered 27 grams of melted gold from Hussain’s in-laws’ residence in the Biswas Colony on Saturday night. The accused has since been presented before the Siliguri court while further investigation is underway.
