Rajganj, 4th September: A massive fire broke out at a house in Belakoba’s Station Colony area of Rajganj on Thursday night, reducing a portion of the house to ashes and triggering anger among locals over the alleged delay in the arrival of the fire brigade.
According to sources, the fire broke out suddenly at the residence of Jagadish Paul and quickly spread to several parts of the house. After noticing the blaze, local residents rushed to the spot and began efforts to bring the fire under control.
It reportedly took about an hour of effort by the local residents to bring the blaze under control. A fire tender arrived at the scene only after the fire had largely been brought under control, prompting residents to express strong dissatisfaction over the delayed response.
Tensions escalated as a group of locals surrounded the fire brigade personnel and protested at the scene. Police from the Belakoba outpost later arrived and brought the situation under control.
Meanwhile, residents once again raised concerns over the absence of a fire station in Rajganj. They alleged that fire tenders have to travel from distant locations, resulting in delays that can worsen the damage during fire incidents.
Following the latest incident, locals have renewed their demand for the immediate establishment of a dedicated fire station in Rajganj.
