Siliguri, 13th September: Siliguri Women Police apprehended a 40-year-old man, Neeraj Prasad, for luring a girl half his age into a love trap, engaging in physical relations with her, and subjecting her to assault, despite being married. Neeraj resides in the Ganganagar area of Ward No. 05.
According to sources, Neeraj, a driver by profession, encountered a 20-year-old girl from Ward No. 09 about five months ago. Their initial meeting swiftly evolved into a romantic relationship. It is alleged that in June, Neeraj traveled with the girl to Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. After spending some time there, they returned to Siliguri and took up residence in a rented house in the Tumbajote area of Matigara.
During this period, Neeraj is accused of engaging in multiple instances of physical intimacy with the girl, all the while promising her marriage. However, when the girl insisted on marriage, Neeraj resorted to physical violence against her. The girl sustained severe injuries and had to be admitted to North Bengal Medical Hospital.
Following this, the girl lodged a complaint with the police, accusing Neeraj of engaging in physical relations and assaulting her under the false pretense of marriage. Based on these charges, the police arrested Neeraj and presented him in Siliguri court today for further legal proceedings.
