Siliguri, 31st October: With only a few days left before Diwali, preparations for the festival of lights have begun in households across Siliguri. From courtyards, rooftops and balconies to shops and streets, the city is set to glow with decorative lights. Markets across Siliguri are already witnessing increased activity ahead of the festival.
Traders have stocked a wide variety of decorative lighting to meet the demand for Diwali. LED lights, string lights, electric lamps, candles and laser lights are available in the markets. Alongside imported decorative products, locally made items are also on offer. Vendors have displayed lights in different colours, patterns and designs to attract customers.
Markets such as Bidhan Market, Hong Kong Market and Hawkers’ Corner, along with other shopping areas across the city, have begun seeing purchases of decorative lights. Both wholesale and retail options are available, with products offered at different price points to suit customers’ budgets.
Prices for LED string lights start at around ₹40. Colourful LED strips, star-shaped lights and decorative string lights are also attracting shoppers. While many customers are choosing colourful electric lights to decorate their homes, others are opting for traditional earthen lamps and candles. As a result, both modern lighting products and traditional decorative items are in demand.
