Man killed in a dispute between two groups near NJP IOC in Siliguri

Siliguri, 15th June: In a shocking incident late Friday night, a man identified as Kalipada Roy was stabbed to death near the NJP IOC gate in Siliguri. The deadly confrontation is stated to be the result of an ongoing power struggle and disputes over gambling activities in the area.


Reportedly, the altercation, which involved several local youths, escalated quickly, resulting in the fatal attack on Roy. Severely injured and covered in blood, he was rushed to the district hospital before being transferred to a nursing home on Sevoke Road. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Roy was pronounced dead upon arrival.

This incident has intensified the already existing tension between two rival groups in the locality. Local authorities, including Councilor Shampa Nandi and former Councilor Jaideep Nandi, promptly visited the scene on Saturday morning after being informed of the murder.


Speaking about the incident, Jaideep Nandi emphasized that the root cause of the conflict is linked to gambling disputes, a recurring issue in the area. NJP police have been stationed in the vicinity since Saturday morning to prevent further violence and maintain order as they continue their investigation into the murder.

Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased arrived at the NJP police station on this day and filed a complaint against Anand Roy, Utsav Roy, Tukai Roy, Navin Roy, Prabin Roy, Rinku Roy, Parul Roy and Sonamani Roy. The family demanded strict punishment for the accused.
