Rajganj, 11th March: A man died in a road accident while grazing cattle in Rajganj on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at Balaigachh area near Hathi More along the Jalpaiguri National Highway.
The deceased has been identified as Biren Roy (55), a resident of Balaigachh village under Rajganj block.
According to local sources, Roy is survived by his wife and a daughter. On Wednesday around 6 am, he had gone out to graze cattle. While crossing the road, a speeding car allegedly hit him, leaving him critically injured. One of the cattle with him also died in the accident.
Local residents rushed Roy to Rajganj Rural Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Following the incident, the vehicle reportedly tried to flee the spot, but locals managed to catch it. The driver along with the vehicle was later taken to Rajganj Police Station.
Police have started an investigation into the incident.
