Alipurduar, 20th September: A shocking incident surfaced near Gholani Ghat in the Kumargram block of Alipurduar district where a man died after his family tied him up in response to his disruptive behaviour due to alcohol consumption. The deceased has been identified as Raphael Minj (45).
According to reports, Raphael frequently caused trouble at home while under the influence of alcohol. On Thursday, a similar disturbance occurred when he returned home intoxicated. As a result, his family members decided to tie his hands and feet to stop him and went about their daily activities. Later, when they tried to untie him, they discovered that Raphael had died.
Panic-driven, the family reportedly moved his body inside the house. The incident came to light on Friday, prompting the Barobisha police to arrive at the scene. Subsequently, the body was recovered and sent to Alipurduar District Hospital for an autopsy. The police launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of his death.
