Rajganj, 09th November: A tragic accident claimed the life of a security guard who was struck by a speeding pickup van while on his way to have a meal. The incident, which has caused a sensation in the area, occurred on Friday night in the Sardar Para locality of Balram along the Sahudangi-Gandar More state highway.
The deceased has been identified as 58-year-old Amal Pal, a resident of Balurghat. Local sources report that Pal worked as a security guard at a godown near the power grid in Balram. He was attempting to cross the road to reach a nearby hotel when he was hit by a pickup van traveling at high speed from the direction of Gandar More. Pal reportedly died on the spot.
Residents allege that frequent parking of large vehicles in front of the godown contributes to such accidents, posing a hazard for pedestrians.
Upon receiving information about the incident, personnel from the Canal More Traffic Outpost and Ambari Outpost responded promptly. The police recovered Pal’s body and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). An investigation into the accident is currently underway.
