Siliguri, 23rd October: Day before Diwali, on the night of Dhanteras, the Matigara police arrested a person with firearms.
The accused has been identified as Bijay Khatri, a resident of Himachal Bihar. As per the police sources, Bijay Khatri was roaming in the Khaprail market area last night with a country-made pistol.
On the basis of a secret tip-off, the Matigara police went undercover and launched an operation and arrested Bijay Khatri along with the country-made pistol.
Police today registered a case against the accused for illegal possession of arms and presented him in the Siliguri court. Police are probing the whole matter.
