Siliguri, 24th October: In a foiled attempt at cannabis smuggling, the NJP police arrested a man with cannabis before he could smuggle it to Bihar. The authorities also seized a four-wheeler used in the illegal activity. The arrested individual has been identified as Ainul Miah, a resident of Cooch Behar.
Reports indicate that Ainul was transporting nearly 37 kilograms of cannabis from Dewan Hat in Cooch Behar to Bihar. Acting on a tip-off, the NJP police set up a surveillance operation in Fulbari to intercept the trafficker.
On Wednesday evening, when the vehicle arrived in Fulbari, police conducted a search and discovered approximately 37 kilograms of cannabis inside the vehicle. The accused Ainul Miah was subsequently arrested and presented in Jalpaiguri court on Thursday.
