Phansidewa, 31st August: A significant drug bust occurred late Friday night in Phansidewa when police intercepted a man allegedly attempting to smuggle cannabis. The suspect, identified as Rajdeep Pramanik, a resident of Patiram in Dakshin Dinajpur, was caught with 23 kilograms of cannabis.
Reportedly, the arrest took place at Mohammad Bux More in Phansidewa during a routine police patrol by the Phansidewa police station. Officers, suspicious of the man’s behavior while riding a motorcycle, stopped him for questioning. Upon searching him, they discovered a large plastic-wrapped packet containing the cannabis.
According to police sources, Pramanik was transporting the cannabis from Cooch Behar to Balurghat with the intent to sell it. Following his arrest, he was brought before the Siliguri court on Saturday. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
