Man arrested from Chapra on charges of domestic violence in Siliguri

Siliguri, 21st September: An individual evading law enforcement was arrested on charges of domestic abuse by the Bhakti Nagar police. The accused, identified as Mohammad Chand Hussain, is a resident of Ashraf Nagar in the Bhaktinagar area.

Reports indicate that Hussain married a local woman from Ashraf Nagar about a year ago. However, the couple has engaged in frequent disputes since their marriage. Furthermore, Hussain and his in-laws allegedly subjected the woman to both physical and mental abuse.

Concerned for his daughter’s safety, the woman’s father filed a formal complaint at the Bhakti Nagar police station about two and a half months ago, accusing Hussain and his family of domestic violence and attempted murder. Following the complaint, the accused husband went into hiding, prompting the police to launch a search for him.

On Friday, the police apprehended Hussain from Chapra based on a tip-off and brought him back to Siliguri. He was presented in a Jalpaiguri court later on Saturday. The police are currently further investigating the entire matter.
