Siliguri, 18th September: A heart-wrenching incident has emerged from Chowmein More located in the Shiv Mandir area of Siliguri where a woman was allegedly killed by her husband. The incident led to the arrest of the accused husband, named Rahul Mandal. The deceased wife has been identified as Sonali Mandal.
According to reports, Rahul Mandal was survived by his daughter and wife, Sonali Mandal, and lived in a rented house adjacent to Chowmein More. He worked professionally in polishing wooden furniture. Police sources revealed that Rahul and his wife had a serious argument in the early hours of Monday morning, following which, around 3 a.m., Rahul allegedly hit his wife in the head with a hammer, resulting in her death. Later in the morning, he left the scene with his daughter. The crushed head was allegedly placed in plastic next to a pot to store the dripping blood of the injury. Following the incident, the husband was witnessed wandering the neighborhood. Later in the afternoon, he informed a neighbor regarding the entire occurrence.
As soon as the incident came to light, the residents of the area were left distraught. The matter was immediately reported to the Matigara police. The police promptly arrived at the spot and arrested the accused. Subsequently, the deceased body was recovered and sent to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination.
