Siliguri, 07th November: In a distressing incident, a man has been arrested for attempting to sexually assault a 9-year-old girl in the Matigara area of Siliguri. The accused, a distant relative of the minor, was caught and beaten by an angry crowd before being handed over to the police.
Reports indicate that the man had visited his distant sister’s house on Wednesday evening. Later, he took the minor girl to a shop to buy meat. Shortly after, the girl’s mother received a call informing her that the man was attempting to sexually assault her daughter in a nearby park.
As the news spread, locals reacted with anger and apprehended the accused, beating him before contacting the police. Law enforcement arrived at the scene and arrested the man.
The minor’s mother has called for strict punishment for the accused. The accused was produced before the Siliguri court on Thursday.
