Siliguri, 23rd December: A man has been arrested for allegedly molesting and raping a woman under the pretext of medical treatment. The accused has been identified as Nazrul Islam.
According to police sources, a woman from Pradhan Nagar area had visited the accused around eight months ago for treatment. During this period, he is alleged to have exploited the situation to sexually assault and rape her. After a long gap, the woman filed a written complaint at NJP police station on Monday.
The woman also alleged that the accused had similar physical relations with several other women. Following the complaint, NJP police launched an investigation and arrested the accused, who reportedly runs a chamber in the Bhalobasha More area.
The arrested individual was produced in Jalpaiguri court on Tuesday. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the case.
