North Dinajpur, 13th September: Sensation prevailed after the lifeless body of a woman was found hanging from a noose in the Chalunia village of Itahar police station in North Dinajpur district. The deceased has been identified as Felani Barman.
According to the family sources, Felani’s husband left her, a few years ago, and moved away. Since then, she has been working as a day labourer with her son.
Allegedly, Felani’s brother-in-law Balaram Barman used to constantly pressurize her for transferring her property in his name. The deceased’s son Shukru Barman alleged that the intoxicated Balaram attacked his mother on Saturday night. Following this, her body was found hanging on Sunday morning.
The deceased’s family alleged that Felani was killed and then hanged to portray the incident as a case of suicide.
After receiving the news of the incident, the Itahar Police recovered the body and sent it to Raiganj Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. The police have started investigating the whole incident.
Meanwhile, the accused Balaram has been absconding since the incident.
